The Peace Devotions of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod are a great example we want to follow! As mentioned in the previous Dresden update, we wish to develop a short video format for online devotions.
At the ELFK Synode in Schönfeld, Pastor Benjamin Stöhr was elected to the Ministry of Outreach. We immediately got in contact and discussed options and ideas. The field is wide open because there hasn’t been a format like this in our church yet. We could start with a simple podcast-like video series of spoken devotions. We also discuss visual story telling in general or things like having our youth groups act scenes of the Bible. My personal goal would be to create videos in the common catchy form of our time but spiced with the true and cutting-edge teachings of Law and Gospel, so people can find the truth about salvation in Christ in what they started watching as just another cool video.
That’s just a dream for now; we might spend some more nights of writing and practicing first. I’m very happy though to be now able to officially work for the Outreach Ministry in many different projects and also to have financial support for the technology we use. The work of Christ in our lives will stand in the center of the message we want to deliver and we pray that God’s saving Word actually reaches the hearts of viewers and listeners.
We wish to present the first results of our work by the end of 2018.
